Dallas - March 22, 2012 - Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS) and PlainsCapital Bank have partnered to host the 2012 financial literacy poster contest for students in Austin, Greater Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock and San Antonio. Elementary (3rd - 5th grade), Middle (6th - 9th grade) and High School (10th - 12th grade) students are invited to submit original artwork illustrating this year's theme, "Winning the Money Game," by the April 17, 2012 deadline.

"We are excited to celebrate financial literacy month by partnering with PlainsCapital Bank and hosting a poster contest for Texas students," said Todd Mark, vice president of education for CCCS of Greater Dallas. "We believe that educating young people about the importance of financial literacy through fun, creative projects like the poster contest helps get the word out about how critical it is to understand and practice smart budgeting and money management."

"We want to challenge students to create a unique poster based on the 'Winning the Money Game' theme," said Jerry L. Schaffner, president and CEO of PlainsCapital Bank. "Financial literacy education is imperative for everyone today, and we look forward to incentivizing students across Texas to learn more by participating in this contest."

Per each city designated in the contest (Austin, Greater Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock and San Antonio), there will be one winner from each category - elementary, middle and high school. From there, a winner from each grade level will be chosen. Following the grade-level designation, an overall contest winner will be chosen.

Official entry forms and contest rules can be found at www.cccs.net/postercontest.

PlainsCapital Bank has provided the following prizes and recognition to the winners:

  • Citywide winners: $100 savings bond per winner and $100 awarded to student's school

  • Grade level winners: $200 savings bond per winner and $200 awarded to student's school

  • Overall Winner: $500 savings bond and $250 awarded to student's school
