CCCS of Greater Dallas Celebrates Financial Literacy Month with Free Webinars and Tax Workshops for Consumers in April Five lucky consumers will win $100 gift card
Dallas - March 29, 2010 - Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS of Greater Dallas), a nonprofit provider of free housing and credit counseling and education, is offering 65 free webinars throughout April in honor of Financial Literacy Month. The agency is also giving away a $100 gift card to five lucky consumers who attend at least three webinars.
The webinars will focus on a number of personal finance topics including information on recession proofing your finances, understanding the credit card act, credit scores, basic money management, budgeting and savings goals, foreclosure prevention, identity theft, as well as several other subjects. A full schedule is available below and at www.cccs.net/webinars.
"It is our goal to provide resources and knowledge to consumers so that they can make their own smart financial decisions," said Todd Mark, vice president of education. "These free, live webinars will allow people to take advantage of financial education, whether at work during lunch, or in pajamas at home at the end of the night. Consumers can learn so much from these webinars, and to reward them for making an effort to improve their financial well being, we will give away $100 gift cards to five individuals who attend at least three different webinars!"
CCCS of Greater Dallas is also offering free tax preparation through its VITA partnership with the United Way until April 15. Local residents who make less than $50,000 can attend a number of free tax preparation sites to have their tax returns completed by a trained tax professional. CCCS of Greater Dallas and other partner agencies have already filed 370 returns for more than $900,000 returned to the community.
Additionally, CCCS of Greater Dallas is honoring Katie Dodge, senior at the Frisco ISD Career & Technical Education Center, Abbey Williams, sevenths grader at Valley View Middle School, and Carlos Pena, fifth grader at John Neely Bryan Elementary School, in April who submitted posters for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling's 2010 Be Money-Wise Financial Literacy Poster Contest. Entrants in grades three through twelve from across the country submitted posters illustrating the importance of smart money management. A national winner is being announced this month.
