Dallas - November 23, 2009 - Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS Dallas) counselor Michelle Burton was recently named as an Amarillo Chamber of Commerce's 2009 Top 20 Under 40. Michelle was chosen as one of Amarillo's local professionals under the age of forty who are pursuing excellence in their careers while making a valuable contribution to the Amarillo business community.

"Michelle's contributions to the local community are outstanding," said Cathy Jacobson, CCCS of Amarillo manager. "In addition to being very involved in the business community, Michelle dedicates her time to supporting several nonprofit organizations and educating their clients on personal finance."

Michelle was nominated with 66 other individuals for the award. The 20 winners were honored at an awards ceremony on November 19 at the Sunset Center.

"As a semi-finalist for the Top 20 Under 40, I was on a list with Amarillo's most impressive business people, and that alone was an honor," Burton said. "To actually be named as winner was unexpected and overwhelming. With my colleagues at CCCS, I am able to support both the Amarillo business community and consumers in our area. It means the world to know our work is being recognized in a time when people need our help the most."

Beyond her service as a credit counselor, Burton is active in the Amarillo community, serving as President of the Board for the Downtown Women's Center and volunteering with the United Way.
