CONGRESSWOMAN JOHNSON TO HOST CLASSES FOR FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYERS The Consumer Credit Counseling Service event will feature classes in Spanish and English
Dallas, Texas (May 16, 2007) - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson will sponsor two financial literacy workshops for first-time homebuyers on June 9 in Dallas.
"These classes are an extension of our efforts to protect borrowers from predatory lending practices and prevent the rash of foreclosures that have plagued local homeowners," said Congresswoman Johnson. "In Congress, I have introduced new laws that govern lender behavior, but borrowers must be equipped to make smart decisions too. Classes such as these can help borrowers get better rates and negotiate for more reasonable loan terms."
Counselors from the Consumer Credit Counseling Service will lead the classes, which will run from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday. Lunch and workbooks will be provided.
